About John

A veteran of the show ring for over 40 years, John started his riding and training career in California, moving to the Seattle area in 1979 and later forming Thumbs Up Farm in 1986 with his partner, Jack. His training and expertise have produced numerous champions, regional and national award winners in Zone 9 of the USEF and USHJA, WSHJA, and World Champion Hunter Rider Programs.

John’s clinics are in demand as they are educational as well as entertaining. His affable personality and no-nonsense approach to riding, teaching and training account for the continued success of his clients.

The Equitation Course Design clinic was designed for certified coaches earning hours, individuals seeking EC certification and amateurs looking to increase their knowledge of course design.  It’s a valuable clinic for those looking for inspiration when schooling or teaching riders at home.

About Jay Duke: Jay has been a Canadian Equestrian team member, and has represented his country at shows in Washington, New York, and Toronto. He’s been the leading rider at the Spruce Meadows North American Championships, trained notable hunter and USEF horses such as Mindful, King David, and Caymus, and coached two riders to medal-winning performances at the NAJYRC.
